Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2026
1. About These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Refittr platform ("Platform"), operated by Refittr ("we", "us", "our"), accessible at refittr.co.uk and any associated applications.
By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or platform notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
2. Definitions
- "Buyer" is a registered user who purchases or commits to purchasing Fixtures through the Platform.
- "Seller" is a registered user who lists Fixtures for sale on the Platform.
- "Fixture(s)" means home fixtures, fittings, and related items listed for sale, including kitchens, bathrooms, blinds, flooring, fitted wardrobes, and similar items.
- "Schema" means Refittr's database record of a specific house type, including room dimensions and fixture specifications.
- "Compatibility Match" means Refittr's indication that a Fixture has been assessed as dimensionally compatible with a Buyer's registered house type, based on the Schema database.
- "Extraction" means the professional removal of a Fixture from a property, carried out by Refittr's approved extraction partners.
- "Extraction Partner" means a third-party contractor approved by Refittr to carry out Fixture extraction and delivery.
- "Transaction" means a completed agreement for the purchase and delivery of a Fixture through the Platform.
3. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform. You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your account details up to date.
You are responsible for all activity under your account. Do not share your login credentials. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.
4. How the Platform Works
Refittr is a marketplace that connects Buyers and Sellers of home Fixtures. We also coordinate professional extraction, quality assessment, and delivery through our network of approved Extraction Partners.
We maintain a Schema database of UK house types. When a Buyer registers their property details and a Fixture is listed from a matching house type, the Platform may display a Compatibility Match. This matching is based on standardised dimensions from builder specifications.
For items sourced from commercial extractions (such as demolition or renovation projects) where the original house type is not tracked, compatibility information is limited to visible dimensions and measurements. These items will not carry a verified compatibility badge.
5. Compatibility Matching
The Compatibility Match is an indication of dimensional compatibility, not a guarantee of perfect fit. While we take reasonable care to ensure accuracy, variations may exist between individual properties of the same house type due to:
- Modifications or alterations made by previous occupants.
- Regional or phase-specific variations by the builder.
- Wear, settlement, or structural changes over time.
- Differences in finishing, tolerances, or installation methods.
Buyers are advised to verify critical dimensions before completing a purchase, particularly for Fixtures where precision is important (e.g., fitted kitchens, bespoke joinery).
Where a Compatibility Match is displayed and the Fixture does not fit due to a confirmed error in the Schema database (not due to the reasons listed above), Refittr will work with the Buyer in good faith to find a reasonable resolution. See Section 9 (Disputes and Returns).
The Compatibility Match does not cover plumbing, electrical, or gas connections; structural adequacy; building regulations compliance; or aesthetic preferences.
For landlords and property owners: if you add your property's schema to the Platform, we can provide more detailed compatibility information for items you browse. If your house type matches the source property of a listed Fixture, you will see a compatibility indication based on that shared schema.
6. Seller Obligations
Sellers must:
- Provide accurate, honest descriptions of all listed Fixtures, including condition, any defects, and clear photographs.
- Have legal ownership or authority to sell any Fixture they list.
- Not list items containing asbestos, hazardous materials, or unsafe gas appliances without current safety certification.
- Make Fixtures available for extraction at the agreed time.
- Comply with all applicable laws, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Listing is currently by invitation only during our pilot period. Unauthorised listings will be removed.
7. Buyer Obligations
Buyers must:
- Register their property details accurately, including any modifications that may affect Fixture compatibility.
- Verify that a Fixture meets their requirements before committing to purchase.
- Ensure their property is suitable for receiving and installing purchased Fixtures.
- Respond to extraction quotes and delivery slot proposals within the stated deadlines.
- Provide access and a suitable delivery point at the confirmed delivery time.
Refittr does not install Fixtures. Installation is the Buyer's responsibility. We do not warrant fitness for purpose beyond dimensional compatibility as indicated by the Schema database.
8. Pricing, Fees, and Payment
Sellers set the listing price for their Fixtures. For Refittr-managed extraction and delivery, the Buyer pays:
- The Fixture price.
- A Buyer Protection Fee (displayed before you commit).
- The extraction and delivery fee (quoted separately for each Fixture after you commit).
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. You pay when you confirm your delivery slot. Payment is held until you confirm receipt or the dispute window passes.
Refittr does not store your payment card details. See our Privacy Policy for details on payment data handling.
9. Disputes and Returns
Significantly not as described: if a Fixture is significantly different from its listing description, you may raise a dispute within 48 hours of receipt. We will review the evidence and, if the claim is upheld, arrange a full refund.
Schema error: if a Fixture carrying a Compatibility Match does not fit due to a confirmed Schema database error (and not due to property modifications), we will investigate and arrange a refund if the error is confirmed.
Change of mind: we do not offer refunds for change of mind on second-hand goods. This does not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Condition disputes: minor cosmetic differences between listing photographs and the actual Fixture (e.g., lighting variations, normal wear) do not constitute grounds for a return.
All disputes must be raised through the Platform or by contacting admin@refittr.co.uk. We aim to resolve disputes within 14 days.
10. Extraction and Delivery
Where a Buyer commits to a Fixture that requires extraction ("Refittr Extracts and Delivers"), the following process applies:
- Quote: Refittr will provide an extraction and delivery quote. You have 24 hours to accept or decline. If you do not respond, the quote expires and the order may be cancelled.
- Scheduling: once you accept the quote, we will propose up to 3 delivery time slots. You must confirm one. If you reject all proposed slots, you may cancel (no charge) or request rescheduling (a rescheduling fee of 25 pounds may apply).
- Payment: you pay via Stripe when you confirm your delivery slot. Payment covers the Fixture price, Buyer Protection Fee, and extraction and delivery fee.
- Access: the property owner or authorised person must provide access at the agreed extraction time. If access is not provided, you may be charged for an aborted visit.
- Inspection: inspect the Fixture upon delivery and report any transit damage within 48 hours.
Refittr's Extraction Partners carry appropriate insurance. Damage to property caused by an Extraction Partner's negligence will be covered by their professional indemnity insurance. Claims must be reported within 7 days.
11. Prohibited Items
The following may not be listed on the Platform:
- Items containing asbestos or hazardous materials.
- Gas appliances without current safety certification.
- Electrical items that are unsafe.
- Stolen, counterfeit, or encumbered items.
- Items structurally integral to a building (e.g., load-bearing walls).
- Any item whose sale would be unlawful.
12. Intellectual Property
All content on the Platform (including the Schema database, logos, design, and software) is owned by or licensed to Refittr. Users grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use listing content (photographs, descriptions) for operating and promoting the Platform.
You must not scrape, copy, or systematically download content from the Platform without written permission.
13. Limitation of Liability
The Platform is provided on an "as is" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, the accuracy of Schema data (subject to Section 5), or the quality of Fixtures listed by third-party Sellers.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Refittr's total liability to any user shall not exceed the total fees paid by that user to Refittr in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be lawfully excluded.
14. Commercial and Trade Sellers
Users who sell Fixtures in the course of business (including demolition contractors, property developers, and landlords) are "Trade Sellers" and have additional obligations under consumer protection law, including compliance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and applicable health and safety legislation.
We may require Trade Sellers to complete additional verification.
15. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting admin@refittr.co.uk. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, are required by law, or have been inactive for 12 months. Termination does not affect any pending transactions or disputes.
16. General
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Refittr regarding Platform use. If any provision is found invalid, the remainder continues in full force. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
17. Complaints
If you have a complaint about the Platform or a transaction, contact admin@refittr.co.uk. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days and aim to resolve it within 14 days. If you are not satisfied, you may refer the matter to an appropriate Alternative Dispute Resolution provider or the courts.
